When it comes to your recreational vehicle, especially your motorcycle, you know how to take good care of it and keep it running well. After all, you want to enjoy it for years to come. That's why you take every precaution to preserve its lifetime and natural beauty. But did you know you may be able to do more, namely for your battery?
Motorcycle batteries are especially easy to wear down and give out more often. But there are items you can purchase to help prolong the lifespan of your motorcycle battery and give you the opportunity to enjoy it for many more rides.
Here's a list of motorcycle accessories to take with you on the journey.
Knife Switch -side terminal
You can use battery disconnects to prevent battery drain, deter theft and unauthorized use. Typically, those who use battery disconnects are individuals who tend to store their vehicles for extended periods of time and those who need the convenience and the safety being able to easily disconnect a battery.
Circuit & Spark Plug Tester
If you're experiencing bad connections and other wiring problems, you'll need a product that can detect continuity, and faulty or broken wires and sockets. Think about getting a tester for circuits and spark plugs that can help locate electrical circuit shorts and breaks.
Mini Battery Hydrometer
A hydrometer is a tool used to measure the relative density (i.e., specific gravity) of liquids, or the ratio of the density of the liquid to the density of the water. Typically, these instruments are made of glass and characterized by a cylindrical stem and a bulb with a mercury or lead shot that makes the bulb float upright.
As it relates to motorcycle batteries, a mini hydrometer can give you a read of its state of charge, or specific gravity. It is a standard tool used for servicing automobiles and is calibrated to read the specific gravity relative to water at 60 degrees.
Battery Hydrometer (with a thermometer)
When temperatures are varying, you'll want a battery hydrometer with a thermometer built in. These tools offer more precise readings of the battery's state of charge, or specific gravity.
3-in-1 Battery Cleaner
This battery cleaner has a side/top terminal auxiliary brush with two handles. The terminal cleaner has two handles; each is a metal bristle brush housed within a handle.
Battery Fluid Filler with Flex Bulb
A battery fluid filler is a one-piece construction that works to prevent leaks at the bulb area. It accomplishes this by carrying small quantities of water to your battery location.
Additional features include:
Overall length is equal to 10 inches
These items are also good for use with ATV batteries, accomplishing the same tasks as with the motorcycle batteries.
